1907-2007 Montessori Centenary Conference
La manifestazione -tenutasi a Roma nell'Auditorium Parco della Musica- celebrava la storica data del 6 gennaio 1907 quando Maria Montessori inaugurò la prima "Casa dei
bambini" nel quartiere romano di San Lorenzo.
The conferece -held in Rome at the Auditorium Parco della Musica- celebrated the historical date of January 6, 1907, when Maria Montessori opened the first "Children's House" in the roman neighborhood of San Lorenzo.
In queste due foto si vede Silvana con la delegazione dei Montessoriani giapponesi: in albergo prima di recarsi all'Auditorium, e per le strade di Roma.
In these two pictures we see Silvana with the Japanese Montessori delegation: in the hotel before leaving for the Auditorium and in the streets of Rome.
Questa è anche una buona occasione per ricordare il Padre Gesuita Klaus Luhmer (1916-2011), un caro amico di Silvana. Padre Klaus desiderava partecipare alla conferenza del Centenario, ed aveva acquistato il suo ingresso ben in anticipo. Resosi conto che il viaggio alla sua età era troppo impegnativo, cedette il suo posto a Silvana, affinché lei lo offrisse a una persona di sua scelta. Sono onorata di essere stata quella persona.
This is a also good occasion to remember the Jesuit Father Klaus Luhmer (1916-2011), who was a dear friend of Silvana and who, willing to attend the Centenary Conference, booked his place well in advance. Upon realizing that such a long trip was too challenging at his age, he gave his place to Silvana, asking her to offer it to a person of her choice. I, Marina, am honored to have been that person.
